WATER SHED PROGRAMME

Background

The Water Resources Development Project sanctioned by Ministry of Rural Areas & Employment, Govt. of India started its works through participatory methodology from May -1995.

The basic features kept in mind while executing the Project are as follows :

w	The members of user groups themselves take the responsibility of construction works for the water harvesting structures.
w	The 15% amount of the actual expenditure of structures was credited towards people contribution. Out of that 15% the 10% was credited towards the expenditure of construction work and 5% amount was kept reserved as maintenance fund with the user groups.
w	The members of the user groups have taken the responsibility of maintaining the structures permanently.
w	The project activity was co-related with the educational program.
