Lok Bharti Nursery
It is the nursery section which turns usually
non-productive and barren land-scape of Lok Bharti into beautified,
productive and charming. Many types of decorative trees, flower-plants and
fruit trees have made our premises as charming and beautiful as fairy land.
The work of the nursery began with the arrival of vegetation worshiper Shri
Ismailbhai Nagori.
Our Beauty - Spots : You find fruit trees, flower plants and flora in
Lok Bharti premises, house gardens of teachers and kitchen gardens. The
creepers and evergreen plants increase its beauty, to see the classes being
conducted under the beautiful gul mohar trees is an everyday phenomenon at
Lok Bharti.
Tree Planting : Different varieties of grapes were introduced
here when water was available in plenty. The mango groves were of rare
beauty. But they have perished due to water scarcity. But today the Sindari
river side fallow – land has become beautiful with 5,000 trees grown under
tree planting campaign being carried out every year.
A Live Laboratory : Nursery, in a way, is a live laboratory for our
students. They are involved in all processes of nursery work. They get an
opportunity to study 182 varieties of vegetation on the campus. They get
training in preparing grafts of various types.
The students do all work of nursery such as preparing pots or bags with
soil, growing and rearing the saplings with care.
Sapling Sale Center : Nursery has been a reliable center for the
people of surrounding villages for getting flower plants and grafts. The
students prepare grafts and saplings as a part of their practical work and
also bring saplings of various fruit trees for sale to people at reasonable
rates after adding certain expenses.
Self - Employment Trainee : The students are taught to prepare and
preserve jam, jelly etc. This work trains them for their future self-
employment. Many student earn by preparing grafts during vacation.
Experiments : The seeds of the best quality of vegetable and seeds
are produced here of foundation stage through experiment and then such seeds
are sold. The students offering horticulture as special subject learn these
processes and prepare seeds too.

The P.L.R.
variety of brinjal has given production worth Rs. 16 thousand to 18
thousand. The families of teachers and students use organic vegetables
free from chemicals in their kitchens. Every year vegetables of eleven
varieties were grown. |

Use of
hormones for making grafts helps growing of roots easily and in large
quality. |

The
experiment of new graft in chickoo : This method of grafting used
in mango trees is also applied for chickoo trees for their quick
growth. Students also make such grafts. We are thinking to apply this
method for ‘sitafal’ |

The
experiment of tissue culture in banana plants : The ‘Basarai’ and
‘Shrimati’ varieties of banana plants brought from Hyderabad will be
given to interested farmers after preparing their “Mother Plant”.

Green Date : 50 varieties of green date brought from Kutch. We
try to increase its yield by the process of impregnation.

The
experiment of trench instead rupees of water plots for mango
trees is being tried for irrigation. They are watered though the
trench. The result of the experiments are being checked. |
The Sale of Grafts :
Four thousand grafts of chickoo. lemon, creepers and various flower
plants are prepared by the students of third year as past of their
productive work. Every year 3,000 grafts of fruits trees and 5,000 grafts of
flower plants are sold.
Agroshed Net House :
Two Agroshed Net house with 50' x 20' x 12 size are
established for growing seasonal crops. Each Net house
is facilitated with drip system and foggers. Seeding of
various vegetable crops can be raised in Net House. It
is also uselful in process of hardening Nursery Plants.
Drip Irrigation System :
Latest drip irriagtion system is established in
vegetable crop plot. Due to drip irrigation system
production of vegetable have been incresed more than
double.
