Graduate Basic Training Centre

Established in 1969, G. B. T. C. aims to prepare teachers for the post basic schools, who can teach subjects like farming, animal husbandry, English , Maths, Science languages and social reconstruction. It prepares teachers who can adjust themselves to the exciting atmosphere of post basic schools and teach subjects as a physical work, community life, social work and extension. The
G. B. T. C. was shifted to  Lok Bharti campus in 1972

Other teacher-training colleges do impart training in class room teaching and methods and practices, management and class room technique, but what is special in this G. B. T. C.  is that different activities in which trainees participate help to build their characters. Moreover when these trainees become teachers they put into practice in their schools the values they have learnt in G. B. T. C. its effect are seen also in their teaching Programmes. This itself is a great achievement

The aim is to prepare trained and knowledgeable primary school supervisors, administrative officers, teachers for training center for primary and secondary school.

Offered after graduation, this one year course includes training in community life, co-education social work and rural activities. Educational tours and visits to unique organizations are arranged so far 1,000 persons have been given this training.

Lok Bharti Adhyapan Mandir ( Primary Teachers’ Training College )

One of the objectives of Lok Bharti is to create rural leadership; there are three persons which play very important role

(1) a primary teacher,
(2) the secretary and sarpanch of the panchayat and
(3) Gram sevak.

If these three leaders work in co-ordination, it will bring dynamism in the rural upliftment.

So even before the starting of Lok Bharti, a P.T.C. training college was established at Ambla in 1948. Primary education plays a fruitful role in the education of a child. To build character of a child on sound foundation is the work of good teachers. So Lok Bharti has put greater emphasis on the training of primary teachers. To inculcate the fundamentals of basic education, trained teachers are required.

To achieve this end an experimental approach is regarded essential. For an experimental approach autonomy is a must. From the very beginning of Lok Bharti Saurashtra and Gujarat State Education department have given autonomy in matters of eligibility, methods of teaching and to conduct examinations. For the last 52 years Lok Bharti has been awarding certificates which are recognized by the Government.

As we are training teachers for basic education, we give important place to physical work, community-life, co-education, social service, extension work and continuous evaluation in training programmes for teachers. Whereas in other teachers’ training colleges, spinning and weaving has been a craft, we placed farming on par with other crafts and spinning remains a subsidiary craft here. This approach has played a decisive role in all the academic sections of Lok Bharti.

Panchayati Raj Talim Kendra ( Local Self Government Training Centre) :

A Training center for Panchayati Raj workers and village Secretaries was established in 1963. The center has been conducting various training classes to prepare well-trained rural leaders to make the Panchayti raj more effective and decentralized. The Special Feature of the training is that besides teaching them rules and regulations of  Panchayati Raj, they are also trained for citizenship and community life. They are exposed to the basic problems and solutions of village life by lectures of expert from Lok Bharti. They also do such activities Sweeping, filling water, Cutting vegetables, serving food to prepare for prayer and gardening

They generally learn subjects like " Pre Panchayati Raj Economic conditions in villages, administration, the main problems of the country after independence How to solve people's education policy and scientific approach.

The trainees visit all sections of Lok Bharti as a part of their study and they get the feel of an ideal village. Many of the trainees have done commendable work in their villages by the inspiration they got from Lok Bharti
